As far as understanding the geography of the Earth, Globes are much more useful as they shows accuracy and maps , they are flat and accurate information to gain from it is difficult but yes, both Globes and maps whatever their structure are , the sources of getting information of the Earth's crust

The differences are that a globe is a three dimensional representation of the earth. That means that a globe is the shape of a sphere, just like earth. On the other hand a map is a two dimensional representation of all or parts of the planet. With a map you can get a magnified picture of a continent, countries, states, cities, towns, and streets.
