To accomplish this, follow these steps if you are using Word 97 or Word 2000:

  • Choose Protect Document from the Tools menu.
  • Choose the Forms option.
  • Enter a password at the bottom of the dialog box.
  • Click on OK.
  • When prompted, enter your password again.
  • Save the file as normal.

1.Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Save or Save As if you have previously saved the document.

2.Click Tools.

3.Click General Options.

4.Clear the Read-only recommended check box.

5.Click OK.

6.Save the document. You might need to save it as another file name if you have already named the document.
