Answer
Below are the steps to be undertaken to obtain a foreign-gene-product:
Step 1. On insertion of a piece of DNA into cloning vector and tranfer into a bacterial plant or animal cell, the alien DNA gets multiplied.
Step 2. After having cloned the gene of interest and having optimised the conditions to induce the expression of the target protein, one has to consider producing it on a large scale.
Step 3. The Cultures may be used for extracting the desired protein and then purifying it by using different separation technique.
Step 4. The cells can also be multiplied in a continous culture system. The used medium is drained out from one side, while fresh medium is added from the other to maintain the cells in their physiologically most active log exponential phase.

The process to obtain a foreign gene prouct is called Recombinant DNA technology.
Explanation:
Recombinant DNA technology is a technique in which foreign gene is isolated and introduced into the genome of host prganism in order to make changes in the phenotypeor genotype of an organism (host). The steps involved to obtain foreign gene product are as following:
- At first the desired gene (gene of interest) is identified and isolated
- The isolated gene is added with a vector and result into recombinant DNA (rDNA) molecule.
- The rDNA is then transferred into a host cell and gene cloning takes place.
- Recombinants and non-recombinant cells are then selected.
- Recombinant cells are cultured under suitable condition and gene of interest is expressed.
- The cells are then cultured in bioreactors for large scale production of desired gene.
