As the poet moved through the snow covered garden, He came across a crow, symbol of death, and he was standing under a poisonous hemlock tree, signifying doom. And snow fell on him showing it was a cold day.

All these evils ironically had a good effect on him. As snow fell on him, he began to Feel better and became cheered up.
