The poem is about the conversation between a snail and a tortoise. The snail refers to legendary story of the hare and the tortoise in which the tortoise defeated the hare by using the simple mean of being show and steady. The snail wishes to know whether that they would work today if he were to race against the hare. The tortoise informs him that it would not work as the crowd of spectators would keep the hare awake and cheering and egging him on. But than the tortoise consoles the snail by saying that we need not try to defeat the hare today. what is rare today is not relaxing and being in hurry.
