Hi Sanam!

In his poem -The frog and the Nightingale, Vikram Seth has cast forward a perfect picture of some common human emotions such as that of envy, jealousy followed by revenge.

The poem deals with a frog whose voice is loathed by all creatures big and small...on the other hand ,the sweet and melodious voice of the nightingale seems like a blessing bestowed upon the creatures of Bingle Bog. Throughout the poem we see how the foolish and gullible nightingale readily comes under the influence of the crafty frog and holds him in high regards without checking the authenticity of the frog's statements. The cunning mercenary (the frog) sells her voice to earn money and in the end he also leaves her to die a painful and tragic death, when she is no longer of any use to satisfy his needs! This shows how jealousy can lead to the commitment of atrocious and cunning crimes. Also, every person is in a constant tussle with the other person in order to regain his status in the society by slyly eliminating his opponents from the picture !!

Hope that helps you friend ! :)
