Mrs. Dorling was a very cunning and selfish lady.During the pre-war time she appeared to be very grateful and caring to Ms. S as her neighbour. This clever-minded woman took away all the expensive articles along with the costly silver cutlery and antique plates convincing the narrators mother that these items would be safe with her. After the war was over the narrator came to Mrs. Dorling to get back her mothers belongings but this materialistic woman even refused to recognise the narrator and Turned the narrator away with her cold and unfriendly behaviour.
