These are the two main features of a neuron:
- Nerve cell or neuron has a cell body which contains a nucleus and other organelles such as mitochondria etc.
- Originates from this cell body are small branches which carry messages towards the cell body to be active and perform. These branches are called dendrites. A cell body also have an axon which carry messages from cell body to the receptor organ or cell.
