The symbol g is a unit of measurement since it is upright rather than italicized as required for a variable, and it stands for gram. The gram is a noncoherent SI unit of mass, with value 0.001 kg in terms of SI base units; it is the base unit of mass for CGS, so value 1 g.

'g' is accelaration.
So, in CGS, the unit is cm/s^2
and in SI, the unit is m/s^2.
