A plough is used in initial cultivation of soil in preparation of sowing seed or planting to loosen or turn the soil. Ploughs are traditionally drawn by animals like horses, cattle etc

A cultivator is used to turn the soil before planting and to remove the weeds, to loosen and aerate the soil as the plants grow
