Resource planning is a procedure or ability to plan for the proper utilization of the resource. There are three steps for resource planning. They are :

(i) Preparation of an inventory of resources.

A Natural Resources Inventory is a report that catalogs the natural sources of a state and collects the data in a suitable format and deciphers the conclusions

(ii) Evaluation in terms of availability for development.

Evaluation is the methodical and accurate estimation of an on-going or finished project, plan or policy, its design, implementation, and outcomes. The aim is to discover the importance and accomplishment of purposes, advancement capableness, effectiveness, influence, and sustainability.

(iii) Planning for exploitation of resources

Planning for the exploitation of natural sources is the utilization of natural resources for commercial growth, sometimes with a contrary implication of characterizing environmental degradation.
