it is dissolved in water

Well CO2 dissolves very well in water.

Even more than O2.

The reason is that CO2 is a polar covalent bonded molecule, i.e. it possess polarity.

The Oxygen of CO2 molecule forms intermolecular hydrogen bonding with Hydrogen of water molecules.

By the word polarity I mean to say that C is slightly positive than O2. ( enthalpies concerned) .

This difference creates a dipolic moment from positive to negative charge.

Not to confuse u much.

In other words, CO2 dissolves well in water especially at low temperature and high pressures.
