solids are the particles which have more attractive they are attached to each other.their particles have less intermolecular force there is no space.paricles are in motion.they can not be compressed.they can not flow.they can broke on high pressure.

The two examples of the application of thermal expansion of solids are :-
i) Iron is heated by black smith so that it expands and can be deformed in the shape of usable weapons.
ii) The principle of thermal expansion is also used in traditional fire alarms in many cases. The setup includes a metallic rod which expands on heating and results to the ringing of alarm.
