The following are the two basic differences between shallow frying and deep frying.
- Shallow frying means partly submersion of food in hot oil with the intention that it reaches only half of the food thickness thereby allowing the food to touch the bottom of the pan throughout the time of cooking. Whereas in Deep frying the food is cooked in such a manner that the oil which is used is deep enough to cover the entire food in order to allow it to float in the oil.
- Shallow frying involves less amount of oil whereas in deep frying the quantum of oil is usually high.
