Write two differences for each of the following-
A. Homogeneous and Heterogeneous mixture
B. Element and compound
C. Solution, colloid and suspension
Answers
Answer:
A. A homogeneous mixture has the same proportions of its components throughout any given sample and is also referred to as a solution. Conversely, a heterogeneous mixture has components in which proportions vary throughout the sample.
B. An element is a material that consists of a single type of atom. Each atom type contains the same number of protons. Chemical bonds link elements together to form more complex molecules called compounds. A compound consists of two or more types of elements held together by covalent or ionic bonds.
C. A solution is always transparent, light passes through with no scattering from solute particles which are molecule in size. A colloid is intermediate between a solution and a suspension. While a suspension will separate out a colloid will not. Colloids can be distinguished from solutions using the Tyndall effect.
