The two standard positions in the magnetic field of the magnet are the north pole and the south pole.

  • The substance which produces a magnetic field around themselves is known as magnetic substances.
  • All the ferromagnetic substances are good examples of magnets such as iron, nickel, and cobalt. steel, aluminium and gold also act as magnets.
  • The field produced is invisible but the effect is visible.
  • The magnetic field causes attraction and repulsion in the object when placed a small distance apart.
  • Magnet is always attractive to a ferromagnetic substance and comes in rest position in a particular direction which is north-south.
  • Two poles of magnets are attractive when the opposite pole is placed near and repulsive when the same pole is nearly placed.
