The following adaptations are found in camel.

They can live without food and water for one or two weeks.

  • (i) Its hooves are covered by a large sole which helps it to move on the hot slippery sand.

  • (ii) It has a hump on the back which is filled with fat. This food is utilised when the camel does not get anything to eat.

  • (iii) It has long legs to keep the body away from the heat of the sand.

  • (iv) Water gets evenly distributed in different parts of its body and not in a specific pocket or an organ.

  • (v) It excretes very little water from its body through dry dung.
