Houseboat is a term used for a boat that has been modified to use as home. Houseboats are used in many countries. Most of them are without motor or engine; they are tethered or moored. However, some of them have engines and can be used to move on water.

Houseboats are very popular in India also. In Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir, houseboats are attraction for tourists. In Kerala the houseboats are moving. But in Kashmir, they are usually moored. In Kashmir, the houseboats are as luxurious as hotels. They provide differently graded depending upon the amount one is willing to spend.

High rent means more facilities whereas low rent means less facilities. Living in a houseboat is a thrilling experience. Everyone must enjoy it at least once in a lifetime.
