Introduction

  • Firstly taking the definition part into consideration. Overthinking means thinking about a particular matter, topic, or person again and again.
  • This is an endless circle which in result exhausts us completely. We feel very frustrated and annoyed when we are continually overthinking.
  • The starters of overthinking are when we just start imagining situations that had not happened or even might not ever happen as well.
  • But the point we take into contemplation is to just imagine it and then create mental images and in cases of overthinking the depicted events are never constructive. They are always pessimistic.

Relation with sadness

  • Overthinking is said to be the most formidable in circumstances when we are already sad, depressed, grim, etc.
  • Overthinking worsens such conditions. A psychological fact related to this is that our subconscious mind always tries to protect us from the dangers and hazards so once any incident occurs with us, that was a miserable one it is recorded in our subconscious mind.
  • So next time when something relatable to the previous incident takes place our mind starts showing us a visualization of the previous one to make us alert about decision-making in the current situation this sometimes is proved beneficial but in most cases, it is not.

Health issues

  • Moreover, talking about the disadvantages of overthinking on our health.
  • It affects our health in an antagonistic manner.
  • People who overthink are often found to have hardship in sleeping.
  • They stay awake at night and keep on thinking and thinking.
  • They also skip their meals, try staying alone, avoiding people.
  • These things are the negative factors of this destructive and mental draining problem.

How to overcome this?

  • Spend time with quality people.
  • Focus on solutions, not the problems.
  • Meditation is only another way

Story on this -

Once a person was driving his car when he came near a bridge suddenly the bolt nuts of his car fell in the river that was flowing under the river. He got totally blank minded thinking of what to do now. He thought to visit a mechanic but there were no shops or houses visible nearby or even far. He started overthinking and overthinking. He even thought that might be he will have to spend the rest of his life there only. Then just like this, he wasted 2 hours. After this meantime, a person from nowhere suddenly came walking on the bridge. He firstly got a bit surprised that why would someone come for a walk over here. No houses or shops are far away visible. But he ignored this and started overthinking again. Then the man asked him what happened you don't look alright. He explained that I was going through this bridge and suddenly 4 bolt nuts of my car fell down in the river and have been flown away. The man smiled and said so what take out 2 bolt nuts from both the front wheels and put them in the other two wheels. Your car will balance it and at least you will be able to reach your destination later on you can visit a mechanic as well. He was really surprised and too much shocked. He replied how did you find this solution. It has been 3 hours since I am here and I wasn't able to find any solution. Why didn't I thought like this? The man said there is just one difference between both of us you were focusing on the problem and I was focusing on the solution. You end up engaging more in your problem and I found the solution. He comprehended what the man was trying to explain and did this and went home. After reaching home he again thought why would a person walk on such a road and framed a statement that it was God who came to help him out and teach a lesson no one else. He smiled and understood how foolish he was.

Moral - Focus on solutions and not the problems

What do you do when you are upset?

Answer: In my opinion, I would like to state that I often first try to upset myself more by ignoring all, taking everything in a negative manner, listening to sad music, etc. Later on, I just play a good track of music that certainly lifts up my mood and I come back to myself again.

  • For such situations, I am always prepared. I had created a playlist for sad times and mood-lifting times.
  • Some people might contradict my statement but I had to say the choice is different for all different souls and minds.
  • Some people may find happiness in music, some in food, some in dance, some in painting, some in exercising, some in going for a walk.
  • But we all know what's good for us and what's not. That is the only thing that matters the most.

Overthinking :-

  • Overthinking is thinking in which we over think beyond our limit .
  • In this situation we think about our past and future. Sometimes we get worry or sad.
  • Overthinking causes to stress. Due to stress we over react with someone.
  • Overthinking leads to any external stimuli that triggers changes in our personality.
  • Sometimes overthink gives good experience like if someone decide something to do then by overthinking they succeed to do it.

If I'm upset I'll do:-

  • I'll create memorable moment's.
  • Fosters feelings of unity and cooperation.
  • Enjoy with my family beacuse it relaxe and rejuvenate my experience.
  • I'll self motivate my self.
  • I'll refocus attention on a new task.
  • I will control reactions to emotions.
  • Sit calm.
  • Listen music.

Ways to overcome overthinking:-

  • Best way to overcome overthinking is Meditation. It helps to develop self awareness and provide a stronger sense.
  • Self confidence :- Persons who overthinks take actions and are prepared to do things without any support.
  • Self motivation:- By this People tend to be more organised, have excellent time management or more confidence.
