Step-by-step explanation:

draw a circle

let o is the centre of the circle

let CB is the chord

draw a line between the chord and the centre. it's length is given by 3 CM

draw a line from O to B . it is the radius.

now we have the triangle whose a angle is 90°

hence AB=√(OB^2-OA^2)

=√(5^2-3^2)

=√(25-9)

=√16

=4 CM

if AB=4 CM then BC=2AB=2×4 CM=8 CM (ans)
