DearSharmin, 

It was very nice of you to have written to me. You will be glad to know that I got the first prize in the debate competition in English in our college on the topic “Importance of Learning English in our society”. Let me briefly tell you about what I said there.

 English is an international language. Most of the knowledge of the modern civilization is available in English. If we avoid learning English, we will keep ourselves aloof from the civilized world. Our education will suffer most because almost all the books necessary for higher education are written in English. It is quite impossible to replace English with Bangla overnight.

 It is unfortunate but true that English is being underestimated which is causing the degradation of its standard. As a result, the standard of education itself is coming down. It is high time we realized the importance of English and took necessary measures to upgrade its standard.

Dear friend John ,

How are you? It's been so long since I heard from you . Hope you are fine in the best of your heath. Today I just wanted to share with you my experience of an inter school debate competition. As I had told you last week that I was going to participate in an inter school debate competition . And i went for that to a neighboring school . Our topic was to speak for or against the motion " homework : A boon or a bane". And I won among 19 different schools . I am so proud and happy . All thanks to my teachers and parents .
