Writing a story with a moral
You are going to write a story with a moral, like Misery above.
Choose an abstract noun, or abstraction, such as Joy, Sorrow or
Hope.
.
You may use one of those examples, or choose one of your
own.
Write the story in which your abstract noun is personified
(represented as a person).
You may have more than one personification of an abstract
noun in your story if you wish.
Include at least one real human character in your story.
Write the moral of your story at the end, as in Misery.
Think hard, and make your story lively and thoughtful!
After you have written your story:
five of your class members will read their stories to the
class;
each reader will stop before the moral at the very end;
the class must suggest what they think the moral is;
finally, the reader tells the class what the moral is which
he or she intended.
