doctrine of lapse was first introduced by Lord Dalhousie in 1858 it is an annexation policy made by British East India company and it is a policy that if an princely state un der this company if unfortunately the heir of the kingdom died they have to get a permission from British to adopt a male heir or that kingdom belongs to that company
