Ludhiana, August 15, 2019, a fire broke out at balaji Market, a local market in the middle of the night. Local residents became aware of it when they saw huge flames emanating from the windows of the buildings; trapped people were screaming for help; some of them were climbing down by tying cloths to the railings.
The fire-fighters teams arrived within 15 minutes. They tried to rescue the victims by using their high ladders. After five hours of struggle the fire-fighters were able to control the conflagration. 50 people were injured badly; they were rushed to the nearby hospitals. Approximately 80 people were killed. The sad news had a depressing impact on all the residents in the surrounding areas. Police are investing the cause of the fire.
