Www. Two train starting at the same time having length 200m each are moving in same direction. If the speed of each train is 30 km/hour and 35 km/hour respectively find when they will cross each other.

The question can be understood by the following image:

Now let the length of each train be 'l'

speed of Train 1=85kmph

speed of Train 2=65kmph

As the trains are moving in opposite directions the relative speed=65+85 kmph

Therefore relative speed of Trains is= 150kmph... { As the trains are moving in opposite directions the relative speed will be the sum of the two speeds}

Now total length one train will cover with respect to other is l+l=2l... ( Because they. are moving in opposite direction)

The time taken=6 s

SPEED= DISTANCE/ TIME

Here,

SPEED=150 kmph=(150×1000/3600) m/s

DISTANCE= 2l

TIME =6s

substituting the values in the equation we get,

1500/36=2l/6

2l=1500/6

2l=250

l=125

This implies LENGTH OF EACH TRAIN=125m
