Let, x-1 = t

Then, according to the question :

- 5t - 6

=> -6t+t-6 = 0

=> t(t-6)+1(t-6) = 0

=> (t-6)(t+1) = 0

t = 6 and -1

When t = 6 then, x = 6+1 = 7

when t = -1 then, x = -1+1 = 0

Answer:

7,0

Step-by-step explanation:

let x-1 = a

a²-5a-6=0

a²-6a+a-6=0

(a-6)(a+1)=0

solving

a=6, -1

if a=6, x=6+1=7

if a=-1, x=-1+1=0

therefore, x=7,0
