Given that

x + 1/x = 1

To find the value of,

 \sf{x {}^{2} +  \frac{1}{x {}^{2} }  } \\

On squaring x + 1/x = 1 on both sides,

 \sf{x {}^{2} +  \frac{1}{x {}^{2} } + 2 = 1  } \\  \\  \implies \:  \sf{x {}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{x {}^{2} } = 1 }
