x-1/x = 3
x-1 = 3x
2x = -1
X = - 1/2
Substitute in x^3 + 1 / x^3 = (- 1/2)^3 + 1/(-1/2)^3 = 1-1/8 / - 1/8 = - 7
Or if the equation is 3x+1/3x then the answer is 3(-1/2)+1 / 3(-1/2) = - 1/2 / - 3/2 = 1/3
