 \mathbb{ \fbox{ \color{red}{QUESTION:-}}}

 \bold{x -  \frac{1}{x} } = 4

Here,

Squaring On the both Sides. It's meant Squaring on Left-hand side and Right hand Sides:-

 \bold{( {x -  \frac{1}{x} )}^{2}  =  {4}^{2} } \\  \\  \\  \\   {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  - 2 \cancel{x} \times  \frac{1}{ \cancel{x}}  \\  \\  \\  \\  \\  \\ {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  - 2  = 16 \\  \\  \\  \\  \\ {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } = 2 + 16 \\  \\  \\  \\ {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } = 18

Thank You!!!!!
