Here is ur answer

x -1/x =7

Now we know that (x-1/x)2 = x2 -1/x2 -2*x*1/x so (x-1/x)^2 +2 = x2 -1/x2

x2-1/x2 = (x-1/x)2 +2

x2-1/x2 = 7^2+2 =49 +2 =51

squaring on both sides

=> x² -1 /x ² = 7²

=>x² -2. x .1/x + 1/x² = 49

=>x²-1/x²=49+2

=>x² -1/x²= 51
