facorise x² -x -6

x² -x -6

=x² -3x +2x -6

=x(x -3)+2(x -3)

=(x +2)(x -3)

again ,
factorise x²+3x -18

x² +3x -18

=x² +6x -3x -18

=x(x +6) -3(x + 16)

=(x -3)(x + 6)

now you can see that common factor of both expression is (x -3)
now , compare both (x - a) and (x -3)
then, a = 3

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

facorise x² -x -6

x² -x -6

=x² -3x +2x -6

=x(x -3)+2(x -3)

=(x +2)(x -3)

again ,

factorise x²+3x -18

x² +3x -18

=x² +6x -3x -18

=x(x +6) -3(x + 16)

=(x -3)(x + 6)

now you can see that common factor of both expression is (x -3)

now , compare both (x - a) and (x -3)

then, a = 3   .....
