(x+2)(y-1) = xy

xy-x+2y-2 = xy

2y-x = 2 -----------(i)

(x-1)(y+1) = xy

xy+x-y-1 = xy

x-y = 1 -------------(ii)

Adding (i) and (ii),

(2y-x)+ (x-y) = 2+1

2y-x+x-y = 3

hence, y=3

Putting y=3 in (ii),

x-3 = 1

Hence, x = 4

Therefore, the values of x and y are 4 and 3 respectively.
