I don't know what is the problem with this but if you want the proof then here it is -

(x + y)² = x²  +  y²  + 2xy

(x + y)²  -  2xy  =  x²  + y²

WE KNOW THAT,

(x + y)² = x² + y² + 2xy

and

(x - y)² = x² + y² - 2xy

From the first eqn,

x² + y² = (x+y)² - 2xy = (x-y)² +2xy
