    x = 12 ,  y = 6

Step-by-step explanation:

solved by using elimination method :

Now consider given equations to solve ,

x/2 + y/3 = 8

⇒ 3x +2y = 48            ×   5

⇒15x + 10y = 240                                                              . . . . . . . .  (i)

  5x/4 - 3y = -3

⇒5x -12y = -12         ×  3

⇒15x - 36y = -36                                                              . . . . . . . . (ii)

now subtract (ii) from (i) , we get

⇒ y = 6

now put the value of y=6 in equation (i) , we get

⇒ x = 12

hence , ( x , y ) = ( 12 , 6 )
