ANSWER:

  • Value of x = 5 and y is -2.

GIVEN:

  • x+2y = 1
  • 3x-y = 17

TO FIND:

  • Value of x and y.

SOLUTION:

=> x+2y = 1 ....(i)

=> 3x-y = 17

Muntiplying both sides by 2

=> 2(3x-y) = 17(2)

=> 6x-2y = 34 ........(ii)

Adding (I) and (ii) we get:

=> x+6x = 34+1

=> 7x = 35

=> x = 35/7

=> x = 5

Putting x = 5 in eq(i)

=> 5+2y = 1

=> 2y = 1-5

=> 2y= -4

=> y = -4/2

=> y = -2

Value of x = 5 and y is -2.
