(a+b)^3=a^3+b^3-3ab(a-b)

So,

(x-2y)^3=x^3+(2y)^3-6xy(x-2y)

 {(x - 2y)}^{3}  \\    =  {x}^{3}  - 3(x) {}^{2} (2y) + 3(x)( {2y)}^{2}  -  {(2y)}^{3}  \\  =  {x}^{3}  -  {3x}^{2}  \times 2y + 3x \times  {4y}^{2}   -  {8y}^{3}  \\  =   {x}^{3}  - 6 {x}^{2} y +12x {y}^{2}  - 8 {y}^{3}
