Step-by-step explanation:

Given -

x - 2y = -4

3x - y = 3

To Find -

Value of x and y

By Elimination method :-

[ x - 2y = -4 ] × 3

[ 3x - y = 3 ] × 1

______________

3x - 6y = -12

3x - y = 3

(-) (+) (-)

__________

-5y = -15

» y = -15/-5

  • » y = 3

Now,

Substituting the value of y on 3x - y = 3, we get :

» 3x - 3 = 3

» 3x = 6

  • » x = 2

Hence,

The value of x is 2 and y is 3.

Verification :-

  • x - 2y = -4

» 2 - 2(3) = -4

» 2 - 6 = -4

» -4 = -4

LHS = RHS

And

  • 3x - y = 3

» 3(2) - 3 = 3

» 6 - 3 = 3

» 3 = 3

LHS = RHS

Hence,

Verified..
