Answer

  • x = 2
  • y = - 1

Given

Pair of linear equations

  • x - 2y = 4
  • x - y = 3

To Find

  • x and y values

Solution

x - 2y = 4 ... (1)

x - y = 3 ... (2)

On solving (2) - (1) , we get ,

⇒ ( x - y ) - ( x - 2y ) = 3 - 4

⇒ x - y - x + 2y = - 1

y = - 1

On sub. y value in (1) , we get ,

⇒ x - [2(-1)] = 4

⇒ x + 2 = 4

⇒ x = 4 - 2

x = 2

\rm\huge\green{\underline{\underline{ Question : }}}

x - 2y = 4 ; x - y = 3 Find the values of x & y.

\rm\huge\green{\underline{\underline{ Solution : }}}

Given that,

  • x - 2y = 4
  • x - y = 3

To find,

  • Values of x & y.

Let,

  • x - 2y = 4 ..... (1)
  • x - y = 3 ..... (2)

From the equations (1) & (2), we get,

\sf\:\implies - y = 1

\sf\:\implies y = - 1

\boxed{ y = - 1 }

  • Substitute the value of y in (2).

\sf\:\implies x - (-1) = 3

\sf\:\implies x + 1 = 3

\sf\:\implies x = 3 - 1

\sf\:\implies x =2

\boxed{ x = 2 }

Verification,

Substitute the values of x & y in the equation (1).

\sf\:\implies 2 - 2(-1)

\sf\:\implies 2 + 2

\sf\:\implies 4

Hence, LHS = RHS.It is verified...
