given x=3+2√2

So x²+1/x²=(3+2√2)²+1/(3+2√2)²

(9+12√2+8)+1/(9+12√2+8)

(9+12√2+8)+1/(17+2√2)

9+12√2+8+17-12√2

=34

The answer is 34.

X= 3 +2 underroot2
=> 1/x = 1/3+2underroot2
= 3 - 2underroot 2 / 3^2 - 2underrot2 ^2
=3 - 2underroot2/1(by rationalising)
Now, x+ 1/x = 3+2root2 + 3 - 2root2
=6

So,
X^2 + 1/x^2 =( x+1/x)^2 - 2 x×1/x
=36- 2=34(ans).hope this helps
