x^3 + x^2 -17x +15 factorize.....

step1...p(x)= x^3 +x^2-17x+15

let(x)= 1

p(1)=1^3+1^2-17×1+15

0= 1+1-17+15

0=0

so (x-1) is a factor

step..2.... by doing long division

x^3+x^2-17x+15 ÷(x-1)

(. after doing long division the quotient will be x^2+2x-15)

step...3...... by middle term splitting

x^2+2x-15

x^2+5x-3x-15

x(x+5)-3(x+5)

(x+5)(x-3)

so, the factors of x^3+x^2-17x+15 are (x-1)(x+5)(x-3)
