Solution :

If x = -3 , y = -6 ,

Coordinates of A( -3 , 0 ) = ( x , 0)

Coordinates of B ( 0 , -6 )= ( 0 , y )

AB = √ x² + y²

= √ ( -3 )² + ( -6 )²

= √ 9 + 36

= √45

= 3√5

Therefore ,

d( A , B ) = 3√5
