so,

x=16-3y .............(2)

By substituting the value of x=16-3y in equation (1)

We obtain,

2(16-3y)-y=4

32-6y-y=4

-6y-y=4-32

-7y= -28

so, next step:-

y= -28/(-7)

y=4

we have obtained the value of y, now it's time for finding the value of x by substituting the value of y=4 in equation (2), so after it we obtain the answer like this:-

x=16-3y

x=16-3(4)

x=16-12

x=4

so answer is here. x and y both have the value of 4.
