 \frac{x}{5}  - 0.5 =  \frac{x}{7}  + 8.5

Lets take all the numbers and variables togetger on left side.

 \frac{x}{5}  -  \frac{5}{10}  -  \frac{x}{7}  -  \frac{85}{10}  = 0

Now lets take LCM of all numers qnd variables that is 70.

 \frac{x(14) - 5(7) - 10(x) - 7(85)}{70}  = 0

Now we will easily get all numbers and variables with a common multiple as their LCM.

 \frac{14x - 35 - 10x - 595}{70}  = 0

70 can be transposed to R. H. S. as it is whole denominator and solution of L. H. S. can be easily obtained

4x - 630 = 0

630 can be transposed to R. H. S. and value of variable can be easily accessed.

4x = 630

Now value of variable x can be found.

x =  \frac{630}{4}

Hence we get the value of variable x as :--

x = 157.5
