$\frac{x}{5} - 0.5 = \frac{x}{7} + 8.5$

Lets take all the numbers and variables togetger on left side.

$\frac{x}{5} - \frac{5}{10} - \frac{x}{7} - \frac{85}{10} = 0$

Now lets take LCM of all numers qnd variables that is 70.

$\frac{x(14) - 5(7) - 10(x) - 7(85)}{70} = 0$

Now we will easily get all numbers and variables with a common multiple as their LCM.

$\frac{14x - 35 - 10x - 595}{70} = 0$

70 can be transposed to R. H. S. as it is whole denominator and solution of L. H. S. can be easily obtained

$4x - 630 = 0$

630 can be transposed to R. H. S. and value of variable can be easily accessed.

$4x = 630$

Now value of variable x can be found.

$x = \frac{630}{4}$

Hence we get the value of variable x as :--

$x = 157.5$
