 Method 1 for the solution.


⇒ ( x - 7 )( x - 8 )

⇒ x( x - 8 ) + { - 7 }( x - 8 )

⇒ x( x - 8 ) - 7( x - 8 )

⇒ ( x × x ) + ( x × - 8 ) - ( 7 × x ) - ( 7 × - 8 )

⇒ x^2 - 8x - 7x + 56

⇒ x^2 - 15x + 56


      Method 2 for the solution


⇒ ( x - 7 )( x - 8 )

We know, ( a - b )( a - c ) = a^2 - ( b + c )a + ( b x c )

∴ x^2 - ( 7 + 8 )x + ( 7 x 8 )

⇒ x^2 - ( 15 x ) + 56

⇒ x^2 - 15x + 56


Therefore the product of ( x - 7 ) and ( x - 8 ) is x^2 - 15x + 56
