X and Y are two towns.A man goes from town X to town Y at an average speed of 30 km per hour and returns at an average speed of 20 km per hour. Find the distance between the two towns if the man takes 10 hours on the whole.

Let distance between X and Y be x kms Therefore total time(distance/speed )=x/30+x/20=(2x+3x)/60=5x/60=x/12 Now x/12=10 x=12×10=120kms
