x and y together can do a piece of work in 10 days, y and z can do the same work together in 12 days, while x and z can do together in 15 days. How long each will take to do it separately?

Answer:

x+y =10

y+z=12

z+x=15

so lcm of 10,12,15

is 60

so capacity of

x+y=60/10=6

and y+z=60/12=5

and z+x=60/15=4

so 2(x+y+z)=6+4+5=15

so x+y+z=15/2

so z capacity is (x+y+z) -(x+y)=15/2-6=3/2

and y capacity 15/2-4=7/2

x capacity is 15/2-5=5/2

so work of x is 60/(5/2)=24

work of y is =60/(7/2)=120/7

work of z =60/(3/2)=40
