X is a compound of carbon which contains two carbon atoms. It is a liquid at room
temperature and is used in making Tincture Iodine, Cough Syrups etc.
(a) Write the IUPAC name and chemical formula of X.
(b) How many covalent bonds are present in X ?
(c) Which gas is produced when compound X reacts with sodium metal?
(d) How will you prepare ethene from X ? Write the equation.

Holaaa mate...

a) The IUPAC name for compound X is  Ethanol , chemical formula -

                               CH3CH2OH

b) It is a single bond compound , only one pair of electron is shared.

c) Hydrogen(H2 )gas is produced when it react with Na.

d)We can prepare ethene by heating ethanol at 443K in the presence of high concentrated sulphuric acid.

           Equation required is

CH3CH2OH-------->CH2=CH2 + H2O
