X and Y both are false because absorption also takes place in large intestine and kidney.
Therefore, the true answer is A) X - is false, Y - is also false.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Answer:

Both the sentences X and Y are false. Most of the nutrient absorption takes place in the small intestine, however, some parts are also absorbed in other parts of the alimentary canal.

The enormous folds of small intestinal lining provide a greater surface area for the absorption of the digested food. On the other hand, the stomach also absorbs some water, glucose and saline. The large intestine is also responsible for absorption of some amount of glucose, salt and water.

Hence, we can understand that the small intestine is not the only site of absorption.
