x² - 5x + 500 = 0

Above Equation is of the form ax² + bx + c = 0

We will solve this using Quadratic Formula

x = - b ± √b² - 4ac

            2a

Here, a = 1; b = -5; c = 500

Substituting;

x = - (-5) ± √ (-5)² - 4 (1) (500)

                    2 (1)

⇒ x = 5 ± √ 25 - 2000

                     2

⇒ x = 5 ± √ - 1975

                 2

Square root of a Negative number is not possible.

So, The value of x = (5 + 44.44 i) / 2   or   (5 - 44.44 i) / 2
