GIVEN :

The equation is -(-x)=x

TO VERIFY :

The value of x=\frac{-15}{17} is true for the given equation.

SOLUTION :

Given equation is -(-x)=x

Now to verify for the value of x=\frac{-15}{17} is true for the given equation :

Put x=\frac{-15}{17} in the given equation -(-x)=x

Taking LHS

-(-x)=-(-(\frac{-15}{17}))

-(-x)=-\frac{15}{17}\hfill (1)

Now RHS

x=\frac{-15}{17}

x=-\frac{15}{17}\hfill (2)

From equations (1) and (2) we have LHS = RHS

Hence -(-x)=x is verified for the value of x=\frac{-15}{17}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given –(-x)=x verify x= -15/17

  • Given x = - 15 / 17
  • We need to verify or prove – (-x) = x
  • Now l. h.s = - (- x)
  •              = - (- ( -15 / 17) )
  •                 = - 15 / 17
  • Also r. h.s = x
  •                = - 15 / 17
  • From this both l. h.s is equal to r. h.s and hence proved.
